Prenatal Diagnosis is the official journal of ISPD. Published 13 times per year in simultaneous print and online editions, this peer-reviewed publication communicates the results of clinical and basic research in prenatal and preimplantation diagnosis in humans, animal and in vitro models.
All ISPD members receive an online subscription to Prenatal Diagnosis as part of their membership. ISPD members are also eligible for a preferential print subscription rate to Prenatal Diagnosis. |

Aims & Scope
Prenatal Diagnosis communicates the results of original research in prenatal and preimplantation diagnosis in humans and animal models encompassing:
- all aspects of fetal imaging, including sonography and magnetic resonance imaging
- prenatal cytogenetics, including molecular studies and array CGH
- prenatal screening studies
- fetal cells and cell-free nucleic acids in maternal blood and other fluids
- preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD)
- prenatal diagnosis of single gene disorders, including metabolic disorders
- fetal therapy
- fetal and placental development and pathology
- development and evaluation of laboratory services for prenatal diagnosis
- psychosocial, legal, ethical and economic aspects of prenatal diagnosis
- prenatal genetic counselling
Case reports will be considered but will be published as research letters.
The overriding criteria for publication are scientific merit, originality, and interest to a multidisciplinary audience.

Health InterNetwork Access to Research Initiative (HINARI)
The Health InterNetwork
Access to Research Initiative (HINARI) was launched in January 2002 by the
World Health Organization (WHO). With help from six major publishers, HINARI
provides free or very low cost access to over 2,000 major journals in biomedical
and related social sciences to local, non-profit institutions in developing
countries. Prenatal Diagnosis is
just one of the titles offered. Institutions
are eligible based on their countries GNP per capita listing (World Bank
figures).
- Institutions available for free access are those in countries with GNP per capita below $1000.
- Institutions available for access at a $1,000/year fee are those in countries with GNP per capita between $1,000 and $3,000.
