Through educational initiatives and outreach, ISPD strives to promote knowledge of preconception and prenatal genetics, screening, diagnosis and therapy throughout the world.
In 2018, ISPD combined its Education Committee and the ISPD Federation into the Global Education and Outreach Committee (GEOC) with a single purpose to advance ISPD's educational mission around the globe. The GEOC is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the educational initiatives of the society. This includes, but is not limited to:
- working with the conference chair(s) to assist with the development of preconference courses for the annual meetings of the ISPD in cooperation with the various ISPD Special Interest Groups (SIGs);
- working with SIGs, membership and Board of Directors to develop and deliver educational content in various locations around the world;
- developing and overseeing online training and resources that are accessible globally; and
- exploring and facilitating collaborative initiatives and relationships with related societies around the world.
